COME SIT WITH ME
So… I Started a Podcast
Hello and welcome to my first podcast.
I'm extremely nervous about doing this. It feels slightly terrifying because I don't really even talk on the phone to people. I usually have my husband doing most of the talking, so this is very out of my comfort zone.
But it's also really exciting and really terrifying, and I'm just trying to do a whole bunch of new things and seeing what kind of fits and what doesn't.
So here I am.
Why did I finally decide to do this?
Honestly, it's because I've been creating content for a really long time and I haven't really had an outlet to put all my energy into what I'm creating, more so in a way that I want to present it.
I feel like I do lots of things with different people and I don't really have a personality behind it.
So I felt like, you know what?
Let's start a blog.
Let's do different things.
Let's start a podcast and talk about what I'm actually doing.
So yeah, I really honestly have no idea what I'm doing, but we're here and we're trying.
So thank you so much for being here and welcome.
WHO AM I?
If you don't know who I am, which you probably don't know, I am Taylor.
I'm 25 years old.
I'm a mom of two.
I'm a wife.
I'm a creative person.
I like to say I'm a social media manager, content creator and writer, which just kind of started, but mostly I'm a mom of two and a social media manager.
I've been doing social media, my own, since probably I was like 15.
I had a Pinterest account because I wasn't allowed to get Instagram, so I started doing a whole bunch of different things and looking at what people were doing and trends.
Then I got Snapchat before Instagram and then I got Instagram and then I was hooked.
And yeah, that was kind of the start of it.
With the social media management, I was like 19 years old.
It was right after COVID and I had pretty much just been taking photos the whole time during COVID.
I was smoking a lot of weed and outside a lot.
Yeah, I'd just take photos of myself and photos of different things.
And lucky for me, I think it became a business.
A friend reached out to me saying that they put my name into a job application for someone who was looking for a social media manager, and I had no idea even what that role was or what that entailed.
I had a phone call with them and just kind of said, look at my Instagram.
I didn't have a portfolio.
And they hired me.
Things started off at $400 bucks a month, which is pretty funny now, just kind of looking at it and what I offer now to clients and stuff.
But yeah, it's kind of how it all started.
HOW IT GREW
I started doing more work, I would say actually taking it seriously, when I met my husband.
I think he saw what I was doing and how it could really be helpful for other people and for me.
He kind of helped me understand what I was actually doing before I was going all over the place and not really having an expectation on myself or on others.
I was doing everything for free, hanging out with people I probably shouldn't have been hanging out with, and yeah, I listened to a man.
And that was the first time I listened to a man and it actually somewhat worked in my favour, so I knew he was the one after that.
We worked on Zeal together pretty much right after that, and it's been growing ever since.
I started a creator agency at 21 and it was pretty much just something that was going on in our small town where we were working with Zeal.
We were doing different things with different clients, and a lot of our clients ended up needing people that we could shoot content with.
And I hated going on Instagram all the time and putting on my story, “We need a free model. We need this.”
It just kind of seemed like a pimpy thing and I didn't really like it.
So I opened up a group chat.
I made it on Snapchat first to people who wanted to kind of join and who were already interested in content.
We had around 20 people in the group chat and everyone was always excited to talk and wanted to create.
Then I made an Instagram account, and now we have around 30 to 40 different people who talk with us, create with us, and it's been super cool.
WHEN I WAS YOUNGER
When I was younger, I was not really good in school.
I was smart.
Teachers knew I was smart.
I knew I was smart.
My parents knew I was smart.
But I don't know. I just didn't put things together in the way that probably should have.
I was always skipping school.
I was on the university kind of varsity sport team.
I was MVP in a lot of different sports and on high school sports.
I was playing up when I was in school.
There were just lots of different areas that showed that I could follow direction, but I just chose not to if I didn't really align with it, which didn't necessarily make me a good listener a lot of the time.
I got into photography, writing and creating when I was younger.
I loved taking content, but I wasn't allowed to go on social media just because of my mom and what my parents thought.
So I would be in my room sneaking on my iPod because I wasn't on a phone.
I was like, until I could afford it.
That was the rule.
And of course, I couldn't afford a phone plan.
If you don't have a credit card and all of that kind of stuff, I was pretty much shit out of luck until I was, I don't know, like 17, which sucked.
But I'd be in my room, on my iPod, setting up a bedsheet and pinning it to my wall, grabbing all of the lamps around my house and bringing them into my room, putting them into every outlet and creating a spotlight.
I would sit in front of all the lamps and take photos and take content of me wearing different makeup or different outfits and I would just post that.
And when I was younger, I would actually get a lot of engagement.
Obviously, it's kind of weird and creepy looking back at it.
But yeah, I'd get like 500 to 1,000 likes a post within a few days and I just thought it was so cool.
WHEN PEOPLE MADE FUN OF ME
The first people who encouraged me were honestly my friends at the time and my husband.
There weren't really a lot of people encouraging me.
I was more so kind of bullied for things I would post and stuff in school.
It would be an ongoing occurrence where I would post and then I would come to school and people would make fun of me.
“Who's this photographer?”
“Why are you doing that?”
And at the time I was young, I thought it was really cringe and it made me not want to do it.
But I didn't really have any friends and no one to talk to, so I just kind of kept doing it.
HOW CREATING CONTENT BECAME A CAREER
That happened pretty naturally.
During COVID, I got my camera with some COVID money I got and I just kind of went outside, was going and hanging out with friends, taking content, taking different photos and videos, then posting it online.
Not really having any reason for doing so.
And then I found a few businesses eventually who saw what I was doing with other businesses and wanted me to do that.
They would upcharge what I was actually doing and then I would make more from that.
Eventually I realized that I could just continue doing that.
Not in like a slime ball way, where not being real and authentic, but actually making money.
Let's just say being able to afford rent and food and stuff.
And yeah.
My first clients were ones that didn't really, I think, know anything about social media.
They were just hiring me because I was young and a girl.
I think that's probably a lot of criteria that businesses have, unfortunately.
It's like they don't have their own kind of mojo and they want to put down girls, but then also use their aura.
And I think that's what was happening a lot of the time.
People didn't really know what they were doing, but then asked me to come do it.
And it would work in some areas, and sometimes it wouldn't.
And in the times it would work, they would be really excited and then I would get more clients from that.
And in times where it didn't work, it really didn't fucking work.
What I've learned from my businesses is that you have to try new things.
You have to evolve.
And that's currently what I'm trying to do.
I'm trying to build.
I'm trying to gain more momentum in different areas that I haven't even tapped into.
And it's scary, but you have to try.
So that's what I've learned.
WHY I CREATED THIS
To be honest, I wanted somewhere that actually felt like me.
I'm a pretty quiet person.
Even though I'm outgoing online, it kind of seems like I'm confident and it seems like I have, I don't know, just like, probably looks like I'm outgoing and I don't really care.
But in reality, I'm pretty shy and I don't really like talking to people.
Not because I don't like people, but because I just have a hard time sometimes talking to people.
So that's probably why I'm creating this.
Because I can do it at home.
I'm sitting next to my husband, who's currently watching a movie, my kids are asleep and I'm gonna have ice cream after.
So yeah.
Feels good.
Essentially, what I want the blog to look like and this podcast is just a space to talk about new things.
Not necessarily trends.
That's not really fully my area.
I mean, it is, but it's not.
I personally don't like talking about it unless it's like a political thing or it's a really funny thing or really cutesy thing or like a fashion thing.
Okay.
Maybe I do like trends.
I just don't necessarily follow them.
So I want this area to be more like a safe place for people to talk if they want to or just to listen.
I remember when I was young and didn't have a good relationship with my parents.
I still don't.
But I would always go on podcasts and try to listen for quote unquote sister advice.
So not to say that I'm going to be that, but I definitely want it to feel warm, if that makes sense.
THE BIG THING I BELIEVE
One of the things I really want to show in my personality, in my brand and in my content is that when you become a mom or when you become someone else, it doesn't necessarily mean that you are becoming a completely separate person or you have a new identity.
And I think in a lot of cases on social media and just in society and how rules are and all of that, you're kind of told that in order to be a mom, it looks like this.
In order to be a woman, it looks like this.
In order to be a business person, it looks like that.
And it comes with a lot of different unknowns because you don't know what that looks like if you've never been in it.
And it feels like you have to jump from who you are into what you believe something else is.
And then there's this gap.
And I just went through that and I hated it.
I felt like I was losing every part of me and I didn't connect with what I was doing.
And so going and mixing everything together and becoming one has really created an intuition feeling that I necessarily haven't had.
And I want to just show people that you can be a mom, you can be a dad, you can be whoever you want to be and you can also do the polar opposite of what you expect, what people expect that to look like.
And you can make it work and it can be beautiful.
So yeah, that's one big thing I think.
Being in a relationship, oh my goodness, yeah, that's a big one.
I feel like a lot of different people right now, especially younger generations, I mean, again, I look on TikTok, that's the majority of where I get my info.
So I could very well be contributing into a problem.
But what I see online is that a lot of people my age, so 25, you're either having kids or you're hating the idea of having kids and losing what you've made.
And I completely align with that.
I completely get it.
But I also want to show people that you can have a husband, you can have a wife, you can have a queen, you can have a king, you can have whoever you want as your sole partner.
And that doesn't mean that you're losing any part of you.
And I think that really needs to be shown and talked about more because I think it's a scary thing for some people.
And I feel like a lot of people don't know boundaries.
I feel like a lot of people don't know how to maybe communicate or advocate for themselves in certain things.
So yeah, that's one thing I'll probably be talking about lots is just kind of experiences and stories I have about that.
YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR MIND
There's a whole list of things that I could talk about here, but I feel like I'm already talking for a while.
You can change your mind.
You can start over.
You don't have to do everything and have everything figured out.
You don't have to have everything figured out.
You can build a life you've imagined while still being a work in progress.
All of those things.
Yes, yes, yes.
That's pretty much who I am and what I'm going through.
WHAT I'M DOING RIGHT NOW
Right now, September 14th, Monday, 2026, I've already launched my blog.
Tomorrow I'm dropping my podcast.
I am slowly trying to build my clientele for my solo brand of my own name.
And along with our social media accounts, I'm trying to tie the two in together.
That's what I'm doing.
Creating content.
I'm doing that a lot, literally in the studio.
I would probably like to go once or twice a week, but it's kind of hard to do it with kids and everything.
I don't really have a babysitter or anyone to help or family around us.
So it's literally me and Mason and our kids when going to the studio every single time.
So it's hard.
But that's what I'm doing.
I'm being a mom.
I'm trying to balance everything, as you can probably hear.
And yeah.
What's exciting me right now?
I'm doing all of this kind of stuff.
That's probably what's exciting me the most right now, honestly.
With everything that I've been thinking about the last few years, everything that I've wanted to do, everything that I hope to be and become, I just really enjoy doing this kind of stuff.
So yeah.
But in doing that, it's making me really nervous because I'm usually someone who is very anxious and I like to think things out and I like to feel like everything's in the perfect moment, at the perfect time.
And in a crazy life like mine, there is no perfect time.
And it either gets done or doesn't get done.
And yeah.
So it's kind of what makes me nervous too, is being excited.
WHAT I HOPE HAPPENS
What I'm hoping for over the next year is that I'll have a bigger community, a larger following.
Not just in, it sounds so stuck up to me when people kind of talk about how they want a bigger following, but in a lot of ways, I want to grow a community that feels more wholesome than what I have been trying to find online.
Not to say that there's not mom communities or there's, I mean, not just talking about moms.
I am a mom, so I'm probably going to reference that a lot.
But not that there isn't warm and nice communities.
There isn't a space yet that I have felt I connect with.
So yeah.
That's what I'm hoping happens over the next year and how it grows.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT HERE
What you can expect here is a lot of beauty, fashion, relationships, some personal stories, work, social media, behind the scenes, random life chats, things I'm loving, things I'm learning and honest conversations.
Some episodes might have a point.
Some might literally just be me sitting here talking to you like how I am right now.
So kind of chaotic.
Kind of crazy.
I mean, I have very sporadic thoughts sometimes and a lot of the things I say don't really have an ending.
So just be prepared for that.
THE BLOG
On my blog, I currently have three different areas that I post content to.
There's the main blog, where everything I post you can check out.
There's posting strategies, work stuff, lifestyle stuff, brand reviews and just free stuff.
That's where I put, honestly, a lot of the things that I would or I've found myself trying to look up.
I want to always make that kind of stuff free.
But I am trying to make a business out of it.
So I have put some subscriptions in place where there's a $5 tier and a $10 tier.
With the $5 tier, it's more of like tutorials, things that are really close to me that I kind of have like a secret thing.
Like I'm waiting to pass them to my daughter, you know, type of vibe.
So I'm going to just explain that, like those kinds of things.
If it's makeup, if it's hair, if it's styling, if it's advice, if it's different things that you just want to be close to and want to understand me more, that's an area you can.
To me, it feels so cringe to say that because I necessarily don't really tie my words yet to a high worth value, which is probably really sad to say.
I'm going to probably look back on this in a long time and be like, wow, I can't believe I admitted that.
But it's the truth.
I don't really have a lot of experience in this necessarily.
And yeah, it's just weird for me to say that I'm charging someone to know more about me.
But yeah.
Then there is the $10 tier.
And that to me is more of like the business strategy side of things.
I'm going to have UGC templates, a content strategy, self branding, some guides, you know, how I make this amount a month, how I make what I make each month and giving you the tools to make that on your own, starting from nothing.
Because I've started from nothing.
I still have almost nothing.
I'm only at like 6,000 followers on Instagram.
I don't really get that many likes.
I don't really get that much engagement, to be honest.
A lot of people that follow me are either, yeah, they just aren't really people who necessarily engage with my things anymore.
So I just wanted to kind of share on that platform and that tier how you can be making money.
Because if I'm making money, you can make money and I want to teach you that.
So that's what is in the $10 tier.
IF YOU'RE LISTENING
If you are listening right now and you've made it this far, I really, really, really appreciate you being here.
You have no idea.
It's been honestly a journey.
I don't really have a lot of friends, not to be a pity party, not to be like that, but I genuinely have been trying so hard to figure out new things that could be my passions.
Or my passions have been outgrown.
Thoughts or wants.
And it's been a journey.
It's been a transition.
And this blog and everything that I'm doing right now is very new to me.
And if you are someone who is sitting here and listening at 27 minutes in, I appreciate you.
And yeah, I'm just excited.
These kind of episodes are going to be a place where I can express new things.
I can share ideas.
And I'm super excited to have you here listening with me.
And we can create something together.
On my blog, you can always ask me questions.
I have a place right now where you can send me a question.
You can ask me whatever.
You can send me emails.
I have a live chat room where I'm going to go in and it's going to be like an hour once or twice a month where you can just ask me whatever.
It's all anonymous.
You don't have to put in your name.
You don't put your email.
And I'm just here to talk.
That could be about anything.
Life, family, moms, sisters, brothers, pets, whatever.
Whatever you want to talk about.
If it's something I don't necessarily want to talk about, I'll tell you.
But yeah.
We can try.
WHERE THIS GOES NEXT
Well, thank you guys for listening.
I hope this becomes something where I can really talk more in depth about new ideas and new things launching.
I see this really kind of growing and becoming something more than even I can imagine.
And yeah, I'm hoping to create lots of different areas and lots of different things.
So that's like a magazine.
Different products.
If that's, you know, just being somewhere that my kids can look back at someday and listen to everything and read everything that I was going through when I was 25 and having them, just always be around me and my husband and growing everything.
I'm just excited.
I'm excited.
I'm nervous.
And I'm trying to figure it out step by step.
And yeah, just thank you so much for being here.
I appreciate you listening.
And I don't know exactly where this is going yet, but I know I want you here for it.
So thank you and have a wonderful, wonderful night.
Bye. 🤍
