31 Things I Want To Do Before October Ends ππ
I want to actually enjoy October this year
I want October to actually feel like October this year.
The cold mornings, leaves everywhere, rainy days, candles burning all day, pumpkin everything, cozy nights at home and the kids getting so excited about Halloween.
I feel like life can move SO fast, especially with kids. Between work, content, the house, getting everyone fed, keeping up with everything and just life in general, sometimes a whole month goes by before I even realize it.
So this October, I don't want to just let the month happen.
I want to actually do things.
Nothing fancy, just memories
We're also trying to be really mindful with spending right now because we're saving up for a new house!! π₯Ή
We are SO excited for this next chapter and honestly, I'm excited for the whole journey. There's something really special about knowing we're working toward something together and slowly building the life we want.
So this October isn't about spending hundreds of dollars or doing something huge every weekend.
I don't want every activity to cost money.
I want the $5 pumpkin. The baking day at home. The walk around the neighbourhood. The Halloween movie we've already watched 10 times. The crafts made with things we already have in the house.
Just little things we can look back on and remember.
October always makes me reflective
There's something about watching everything around you change that makes me think about my own life too.
Where I've been. Where I'm going. The person I'm becoming. The life we're building.
I always feel a little more nostalgic this time of year. I want to romanticize the rainy days, take more pictures, slow down a little and actually notice what's happening around me.
Doing it with my babies
This year feels extra special because I get to experience all of it with my babies.
Sabo is 3 and Nami is 7 months, and I know there are so many little moments happening right now that I'm going to miss one day.
Nami experiencing her first Halloween. Sabo getting SO excited about costumes and pumpkins. Their little reactions to everything.
I already know I'm going to wish I could go back to these days.
So here's our little October challenge
Instead of waiting for the perfect fall day, I'm making our own little October bucket list.
Nothing expensive. Nothing complicated.
Just 31 little things I want us to do before October is over.
π Our October Bucket List
1. Get our pumpkins π
Go to a pumpkin patch and let the kids pick their own.
2. Bake something together πͺ
A big family baking day where the kitchen will probably end up covered in flour.
3. Get crafty π
Make some kind of fall or Halloween craft with the kids.
4. Make the house spooky π»
Decorate the house for Halloween and make it feel extra cozy.
5. Find the costumes πΈοΈ
Go Halloween costume shopping and let Sabo have way too many opinions.
6. Make a sensory bin π§‘
Put together a little Halloween sensory bin for the kids.
7. Make a Halloween breakfast π₯
Something cute and festive because why not make breakfast fun?
8. Have a spooky dinner π½οΈ
A little Halloween themed family dinner at home.
9. Have a movie night π¬
PJs, blankets, snacks and a Halloween movie.
10. Go leaf hunting π
Find the prettiest fall leaves we can and bring some home.
11. Have apple cider π
Preferably on a rainy day when we're all cozy inside.
12. Bake pumpkin cookies π
Because I feel like you legally need to make pumpkin cookies in October.
13. Go on a fall walk π²
No phones, no rushing, just getting outside together.
14. Read Halloween books π
A little Halloween story before bed.
15. Make hot chocolate βοΈ
Extra marshmallows obviously.
16. Carve pumpkins πͺ
Let the kids help and accept that they're probably going to make a mess.
17. Paint mini pumpkins π¨
A less messy alternative to carving... hopefully.
18. Visit a local farm π
Spend the day wandering around and seeing what we find.
19. Take family photos πΈ
I want ALL the fall pictures this year.
20. Jump in leaves π
Find the biggest pile we can and let the kids go crazy.
21. Make a Halloween snack board π
A fun little board with all our favourite Halloween treats.
22. Have a cozy journaling night π―οΈ
Light a candle, put on some music and take a little time to reflect.
23. Watch the sunset π
One evening, I want to stop everything and just watch the sunset with the kids.
24. Make Halloween goodie bags π»
Something cute the kids can help put together.
25. Make a new soup π²
A cozy recipe we've never tried before.
26. Have a screen free night π€
No phones, no TV, no scrolling. Just us.
27. Make caramel apples π
Messy, sticky and probably way harder than it looks.
28. Build a blanket fort ποΈ
Blanket fort + snacks + story time = perfect night.
29. Make an October scrapbook page π
Print some of our favourite photos and actually put them somewhere we'll keep.
30. Go trick or treating π¬
Sabo's excitement is going to be everything.
31. Look back on the month π€
End October by looking at all the pictures, memories and little moments we made.
π Come do it with us
I want you guys to follow along with us this month and check these things off with us!
I'll be sharing what we do, the things that totally flop π, the cute moments, the messy moments and all the little memories in between.
You can make your own list, steal some of ours or just follow along and see how many we actually manage to check off.
Because I really don't think you need to spend a lot of money to make a month feel special.

We're building our life while we're living it
We're saving for a house. We're building a life. We're figuring things out as we go.
And in the middle of all of that, I still want to make sure we're actually living and making memories along the way.
The house will come eventually.
The next chapter will come eventually.
But these little kids are only going to be this little once.
So I'm choosing the pumpkins, the messy baking, the rainy walks, the Halloween movies, the crafts, the cuddles and all the little moments we get to keep forever.
